Welcome Saliha

Post date 14 September 2018

Say hello to Saliha Ahmed, our new Community Engagement Officer. She grew up in Easton and attended Whitehall Primary School, so knows our neighbourhood well. Saliha has ten years of experience working in community development. She’s worked on a variety of different projects across the city including working with over 50s in North Bristol, social isolation projects and in secondary schools. She has served as a governor at Fairfield High School championing a whole school approach to community engagement.

Saliha says “I’m passionate about Easton and Lawrence Hill, particularly the diversity of its residents and would like to build on the amazing work Up Our Street do. I think the organisation makes a huge contribution to developing local skills and giving residents the confidence and knowledge to influence change in their neighbourhood for the better. I would like to work with local people to help them come together to solve problems”

Away from work Saliha is a keen cyclist and never misses a change to explore green spaces and regularly goes hiking. She also speaks fluent Urdu, Punjabi and Hindi but says she would love to learn another language. We are delighted to welcome Saliha to the Up Our Street team, and we hope you enjoy working with her too.
