British/Iranian artist Roxana Vilks got in touch with Up Our Street and offered to run a lullabies workshop for local parents and children. It's part of a project she started as a resident artist at the Trinity Centre. We were delighted that so many families turned up, it was quite a squeeze in the activity room at Easton Community Centre!
The workshop brought together parents and children from different parts of the world who have made Easton and Lawrence Hill their home. During the session the group sang songs from different cultures and talked about their own experiences of singing children to sleep (or being sung to!)
We'd like to thank Roxana and Peter for such an engaging workshop, and Alexa Ledecky for her amazing photography. You can find out more about the Lullabies project here.
