Exploring the arts

Post date 5 July 2019

Up Our Street is excited to be working with Colston Hall, MAYK, Spike Island, and In Between Time - a group of Bristol’s arts organisations looking to bring together a diverse group of residents who are curious about experiencing more arts and culture in Bristol. The residents group will influence those organisations’ planning so they can improve their events in the future. They also hope to better understand how people engage (or don’t engage) with contemporary arts.

What’s involved?
The residents group will take part in five or six informal meetings from July 2019 onwards, while having the chance to take part in creative workshops, enjoy free events and go behind the scenes. Refreshments are provided at all meetings. Travel costs can be reimbursed. Up Our Street will audio-record these meetings so we can learn from our conversations in future –participants will be kept anonymous in any recordings or reports. We are keen for participants to attend at least three of the meetings, therefore the dates and locations below are negotiable with the group members.

Meeting dates:
Meeting 1 (16 or 17 July) – Easton Community Centre (tbc)
•    Getting to know each other, welcoming the residents to the group.
•    A chance to talk about personal interests and current engagement in the arts.
Meeting 2 (21 or 22 August tbc)
Our second meeting will involve a more focussed discussion of any recently attended events or workshops and sharing ideas for future activities to involve the group.
Meeting 3 (September)
Meeting 4 (October)
Meeting 5 (month tbc)
